I am an assistant professor at the math department at Bowdoin College. Previously I held postdoc positions at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, the Technion, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Before this I was a graduate student at Stony Brook University, with Dennis Sullivan as my advisor.

Research

I study low dimensional topology and geometry. In particular, I am usually thinking about: curves on surfaces, hyperbolic geometry, billiards, translation surfaces and 3-manifolds.  During the pandemic, I made some videos for the innovative Nearly Carbon Neutral Geometry and Topology Conferences. Here is a video I made about my work in polygonal billiards. Here is a video I made introducing the topic of translation surfaces of infinite type.

Fall 2022: Math 2020 Introduction to mathematical reasoning and Math 3402 Toplology.

Spring 2022: I taught Math 2404 Geometry.

Fall 2021: I taught Math 2020 Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning and Math 3404 Advanced Geometry.

Spring 2021: I taught Math 403 Euclidean Geometry and Math 347 Fundamental Mathematics at UIUC.

Fall 2020: I mentored three undergraduate research projects on flat surfaces at the Illinois Geometry Lab.

Fall 2019 - Spring 2020: I taught Math 402 Non-Euclidean geometry as well as two classes of Math 403 Euclidean Geometry at UIUC.

In graduate school, I enjoyed lecturing at the annual Stony Brook Math Summer Camp and designing and teaching geometry/topology courses for the WISE program. I also was a mentor for undergraduate students in the annual summer geometry/topology topology workshop at Stony Brook University, and participated in many department outreach activities. At Stony Brook University, I have been a TA for the following types of courses (some of them many times):
